Options for Half-Match bets are designated by the abbreviations W1, W2 and D. The first value relates to the results of the first half, and the second relates to the outcome of regular time of the match.
- 1/X – Team 1 leads after 1st half and match ends in a draw
- 1/1 – Team 1 leads after 1st half and wins the match
- 1/2 – Team 1 leads after 1st half and Team 2 wins the match
- X/1 – Draw after the 1st half and Team 1 wins the match
- X/2 – Draw after the 1st half and Team 2 wins the match
- X/X – Draw after the 1st half and the match ends in a Draw
- 2/X – Team 2 leads after 1st half and the match ends in a draw
- 2/2 – Team 2 leads after 1st half and wins the match
- 2/1 – Team 2 leads after 1st half and Team 1 wins the match
Half-match bets are accepted for football. Hockey also has a version of half-matches called "period-match", which is a bet on the selection of the first period and full time of the match. Period-Match bets are designated by the same abbreviations as Half-Match bets, only instead of the outcome of the first half, the outcome of the first period is considered.
How are half-match bets settled?
First the betting company settles the bet on the outcome of the first half. If it wins, the betting company then settles the bet on the match selection.
Example settlement of 1/X
- You bet on W1D – the home team winning the first half and regular time ending in a draw.
- The first half ended with the home team leading with a score of 1:0.
- Then in the second half, the away team scored one goal, and the match ended 1:1.
- The bet won.
Example settlement of 1/2
- You bet on 1/2 — the home team winning the first half and regular time ending with the away team in the lead.
- The first half ended in a draw, and the match ended with the away team winning.
- The bet doesn't win because the home team didn't win the first half.
How to place Half-Match bets?
Players need to analyze matches and team statistics, as well as the results during different match segments. Most teams are unable to play effectively throughout an entire match. Some prefer to attack a lot at the start and hold the score in the second half. Others play defensively and defeat their opponents when they make mistakes at the end of matches.
Betting on a draw in the first half and winning the match is good for matches between equal teams with strong motivation. If they are playing to reach the next stage of a cup or place in the top 5 of the championship, then the teams will start the game carefully, and try to study their opponent's game plan without revealing their own. In the second half, the game will unfold, and the team whose leaders are performing better will most likely win.
A bet on a draw in the first half and the match is good for matches between a favourite and an outsider. If the outsider plays at home and has a good defence, then they will try to play defensively for the whole game and end with a draw thanks to home field advantage. This bet will also be good for matches between low-performing clubs lower in the standings.
Winning the half and the match is suitable for games with a clear favourite and outsider. The team that performs better will probably try to get ahead in the first half, and in the second maintain their advantage so as not to exhaust their leading players. In these matches, you can bet on the favourite to win, but the bet on winning the first half and the match will have higher odds.
Place bets in Live. In this case, you will have a better understanding of the teams' plans for the game and state of its main players. For example, if the match favourite from the first minutes seized the initiative and is already putting pressure on the opponent's goal, then it is better to bet on their victory in the first half and the match. If both teams are at about the same level and playing defensively, then bet on a draw in the first half and determine the winner of the match using the head-to-head statistics of the teams and their current performance.
Bet on half-match Single bets. It is risky to include bets like these in a Multiple or System. Their outcome depends on too many factors. For example, if one of the leaders is injured or the team gets sent off, then the course of the game will develop according to a completely different scenario. Instead of a half-match, add bets on outcomes because they are easier to predict.
What to choose instead of half-match?
