Outright

An outright bet is a bet placed on the outcome of a tournament.
Outright in betting
Bets of this type appear in
Sports
before the start of a season. Betting companies offer bets on the winner of the tournament, top three finalists, top scorer, top assist.
It's difficult to correctly predict outright selections. Before placing a bet, players need to consider possible transfers, coach changes, team form and player injuries.

Can an outright bet be settled ahead of time?

Yes, this happened in the 2019/20 season. Fonbet paid out winnings on championship bets for Liverpool and PSG, even though neither team guaranteed mathematically that they would win the championship. Also, bets on other teams winning first place remained in force — if they won, Fonbet would have settled them as winners.

What's the downside to outrights?

Their length. You only get your winnings after the

end of

the

competition, but

before that

your money isn't

available. To

avoid this downside, you can cash the

bet out. Cashing out the

bet ahead of

time gets your money back and

sometimes earns you a

profit.
You bet on Manchester City to win the Premier League with odds of

2.20. By the

middle of

the

season, City is

up

by

10 points from their nearest competitor. The

odds for

the

club winning the

championship go down, so

the

price of

cashing out the

bet goes up. So

you can cash out

the

bet and make a

profit that you can use for

other bets.

How to bet on outrights?

Before placing a bet, consider possible transfers, coach changes, team form and

player injuries. If

rumour has it

that one of

the

team leaders is

about to

leave, then don't bet on

this club, as

it's

not clear how the

head coach will rebuild his team and

how the

restructuring will affect performance.
Consider the championship trends. In a lot of

championships, one or

two teams tend to

dominate. For

example, in

Germany, Bayern win the

most, in

Italy it's

Juventus, and

in

Portugal it's

Porto and

Benfica.
If you bet on an outright in a cup tournament with odds over 2.00 and

your club reaches the

final, bet on

their opponent. In

this case, you'll win no

matter how the

match ends, all you have to

do

is

calculate the

amount of

the

second bet so

it

covers the

loss of

the

first bet.
You bet EUR 10 on Bayern winning the Bundesliga with odds of 3.00. They make it to the final, where they're set to face PSG. PSG winning the tournament is rated with odds of 2.50. Bet EUR 10 and calculate the results:
  • If Bayern wins, you win EUR 30.
  • If PSG wins, you earn EUR 25.
No matter the result, you earn a profit. You bet a total of EUR 20. Bayern winning earns you EUR 30, while a PSG win earns you EUR 25.
