An example of bet calculation using the Oscar's grind strategy

Pros and cons of the Oscar's grind strategy

The bet amount grows slowly.
You will lot spend a large amount on the strategy because the bet size increases only after winning bets. Two consecutive wins complete the strategy cycle. The only unlucky outcome is the alternation of losses and wins. In this case the bet amount will constantly increase and the strategy will continue.
You need a high bet win percentage.
You will need two wins in a row for the Oscar's grind strategy to complete. In the long run you will need the bet win percentage to be higher than 50% for that.
If the bet win percentage is below 50% the strategy may result in a loss, and losses are not compensated in any way. In the event of a substantial loss series, the bet size will not grow, so the wins may not recoup the spent money.

In total, we have spent
EUR
160. Six bets have posted a loss, three bets have won. Our win has totalled
EUR
140, but at the end of the strategy run we have seen a loss of
EUR
20.
In our case the bet win percentage has been 33% – every third bet has posted a win.

How to place bets using the Oscar's grind strategy?

Choose odds from 2.00.
In this case every winning bet will compensate for at least one loss. If you chose lower odds, the win amount will be smaller than the lost amount.
Analyse the events.
This strategy will not work without the overall analysis and understanding. The probability of bets winning with the odds from 2.00 is below 50%, and to make a profit the bet win percentage should exceed 50%. It means that, in order to make a profit, you need to analyse the events better than the bookmakers who assess their probability.

What are the alternatives to the Oscar's grind strategy?

Oscar grind's strategy is
chasing
in reverse. In the case of the chasing strategy the bet amount grows when you make losses, and the first win completes the strategy and gives the player a profit, irrespective of how much he has spent. The chasing strategy has a number of pros and cons in comparison with the Oscar's grind strategy.
The chasing strategy helps recoup losses.
The bet size grows when you make losses, which means that, the more often a player loses, the higher the win bet size will be. However, it has a drawback – in the case of a prolonged series of losses a player risks losing all the bank.
The chasing strategy works only with the odds below 2.00. The chasing bet amount is calculated according to a formula which takes into account the bets odds and the losses amount. The formula is needed for the win to guarantee compensation for the money spent during the strategy. However, the lower the odds, the faster the bet size grows.
