What is the difference between bettors and cappers?

Cappers are professional bettors. For them, betting is their main source of income. Cappers treat betting like a job. They use betting strategies, log their bet statistics, look for new strategies and monitor their bank. Cappers study upcoming matches carefully, and each bet they make is backed up by statistics and personal observations.

How to become a capper?

To become a professional bettor, you need to spend a lot of time studying the betting market, betting strategies and ways of controlling your bank. To save time on the learning stage, try using our five recommendations.

Study the terms and rules

You need to understand the settlement rules of the bets you place. For example, bets on handicaps and totals can be settled as
pushes
, in which case you will not receive any winnings, and the bet amount will be returned to your account. Also remember that almost all bets are placed on regular match time.

Justify your bets

Do not rely on your intuition to make bets: always focus on the statistics. Study how match participants have been performing recently, especially in terms of head-to-head matches, and pay close attention to the state of the team leaders.
Study the tournament bracket before betting. It will help you understand participant motivation. If a participant lacks motivation, they are more likely to lose, even if they are the favourite. If the favourite has already accomplished what they want in the tournament, they may play half-heartedly, thus reducing their chances of winning.
In major matches, head-to-head match statistics are important. Even if a team has poor results during the season, their attitude may change and they may play well against their main rival.

Control your bank

Experienced cappers use bank management strategies to reduce losses on lost bets and increase profits from winning bets. These strategies help determine the optimal bet amount depending on the size of the pot and desired profit.
There are three main bank management strategies: flat, fixed profit, and fixed amount.

Flat

Flat is a management strategy where the bettor chooses the bet amount as a percentage of their bank. On a losing streak, the size of the pot decreases, along with the bet size. When the bettor wins, the bet amount increases. The percentage can be anything: from a safe 1-2% to a risky 15%.

Fixed amount

With a fixed amount strategy, the bettor divides their bank into several equal parts. Each part is the amount of a bet. The more parts there are, the less the risk, since the bettor has more chances to win back their losses.

Fixed profit

The fixed profit strategy helps determine the bet amount depending on the desired winning amount and odds of each bet. Profits should not exceed 3% of the bank size.
The bet amount is calculated as follows:
P รท (k - 1)
  • P โ€“ desired profit
  • k โ€“ bet odds

Use betting strategies

Betting strategies help you build a betting structure to save you from unnecessary losses or help you recoup from a losing streak. There are lots of different betting strategies, and some are always suitable, while others only work in specific sports or certain tournaments.
For example, chasing helps you recoup losses by increasing the bet amount with each loss. The bet amount is calculated by the following formula:
S = (X + Y) รท (k - 1)
  • S โ€“ bet amount
  • X โ€“ estimated winnings from the first bet
  • Y โ€“ amount lost during the strategy
  • k โ€“ odds of the selected event
The ladder strategy helps you make a profit betting on favourites. Bettors place bets with odds up to 1.15, and if they win, they bet the entire amount won on the next selection with odds up to 1.15. Due to the constant increase in the bet amount and high probability of winning, the bettor steadily increases their pot, only risking the initial bet amount.

Log your bet statistics

Record all your bets, including amounts, odds and results. Detailed statistics will help you understand how effective your strategy is. Also, over a long distance, logging your bets will help calculate your ROI, or how effectively you are investing your money. It is best to calculate ROI if you have already placed at least 100 bets, or else the figure will not be entirely representative.

ROI is calculated using the following formula:
Total winnings of all bets รท total amount of all bets ร— 100%
If your ROI is positive, then you are turning a profit and your strategy is effective. If it is negative, then you are in the red and should think about how you could improve your bets, for example, by reducing the odds or amount.
