The player chooses an event and places a bet. If the bet wins, then they bet the entire amount won on the next event. The strategy continues this way until the player earns the profit they want.
This strategy works with odds below 1.30. The lower the odds, the higher the chance the bet will win and you will earn a profit. For a ladder to work, it is important that every bet wins: at odds above 1.30, the strategy will more often end before the player reaches their goal, which will put the player into the red quickly.
Ladder example
You are using the strategy with a goal of doubling your initial bet. First bet amount: EUR 100.
Look for suitable events with low odds.
- The amount – EUR 100.First betOdds: 1.20.
Winnings – EUR 120. - The amount – EUR 120.Second betOdds: 1.15.
Winnings – EUR 138. - The amount – EUR 138.Third betOdds: 1.30.
Winnings – EUR 179,4. - The amount – EUR 179,4.Fourth betOdds: 1.20.
Winnings – EUR 215,3.
The fourth bet earns you winnings of EUR 215,3. This means you have doubled the amount of your first bet, so you can end the strategy.
Ladders work well for a small bank
This strategy is suitable for banks of any size. The player only risks the initial bet amount and does not invest their own funds in further bets. The bet size increases thanks only to winnings, so the strategy helps increase your initial capital without much risk because odds are low.
Ladder risks increase when the player's own goal increases: the more money they want to earn, the more bets need to be made. The more bets, the higher the chances that one of them will not win and they will lose everything they earned during the strategy. To minimize risks, set your goal so it does not take any more than 5-6 bets to achieve it.
Ladders are not a risk-free strategy
You should analyse events to help the strategy work more efficiently. Make sure you are confident in every bet so you will have better chances of the strategy earning you a profit. For example, if you bet on a favourite to win, consider what form the team's leaders are in, what their motivation is and how difficult the team's calendar is.
To help increase the strategy's stability, place new bets with lower odds than the previous ones. For example, you could start at 1.30 and work your way down as you win, and end up betting on an event with odds of 1.10 or lower. So you sacrifice the speed of earning money, but you will lose less bets in later stages.
Ladders work in Live
The advantage of betting in Live is the option to complete the ladder in just a single match. Matches between favourites and outsiders work best. In this case, it is enough to just bet on the most likely event. For example, that the favourite will score the next goal or have a higher score at the end of the first half.
You are watching Manchester City
–
Brentford. You want to bet EUR
100 and earn
EUR
200 from the strategy in total.
- Manchester City is the obvious favourite, and the team starts to put on the pressure from the very start of the game. You bet EUR 100 on a goal in the first half with odds of 1.30. Manchester City scores in the 20th minute, and you win EUR 130.
- After the first goal, you are sure that the favourite will win the first half, so you bet EUR 130 with odds of 1.15. City scores another goal, and the half ends 2:0. You win EUR 149,5.
- In the second half, you expect at least one more goal. So you bet EUR 149,5 on a total over 2.5 with odds of 1.20. In the 60th minute, Brentford scores one goal to put the match at 2:1. You win EUR 179,4.
- You are confident that City will win the match because they are the higher performing team. You bet EUR 179,4 on the team winning with odds of 1.15. The match ends with a score of 3:1, and you win EUR 206,4. You met your goal.
The strategy also has a more advanced version
Cappers have developed an improved version of the ladder strategy called "boar farming", or tank attack. In essence, the player makes several ladders for different events simultaneously, typically five. The goal is to increase the bank by a certain percentage, or earn a certain total profit.
In the "boar farming" strategy, losing a bet does not result in the strategy ending for the player. If one of the ladders loses, then the goal can be reached thanks to the remaining chains. For example, if a player wants to increase their bank by
EUR
500 from five "boars", then if they lose two, the EUR
500 can be earned by the remaining "boars". The strategy spans a larger number of bets, but is still used to make a profit.Example of "Boar farming"
Based on the "boar farming" strategy, you start five ladders at the same time. You allocate EUR 500 for the strategy: EUR 100 for each bet. Goal: EUR 600.
Stage 1
Bet | Odds | Result | Amount | |
1 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
2 | EUR | 1.15 | Win | EUR |
3 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
4 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
5 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
You still have five "boars", and after the first stage you now have EUR 595.
Stage 2
Bet | Odds | Result | Amount | |
1 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
2 | EUR | 1.20 | Loss | EUR |
3 | EUR | 1.10 | Win | EUR |
4 | EUR | 1.15 | Win | EUR |
5 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
One "boar" is now gone, and you lost EUR 100. The remaining four "boars" earned EUR 558, and in total the strategy balance is now EUR 458.
Stage 3
Bet | Odds | Result | Amount | |
1 | EUR | 1.10 | Win | EUR |
3 | EUR | 1.20 | Win | EUR |
4 | EUR | 1.10 | Win | EUR |
5 | EUR | 1.10 | Win | EUR |
The four remaining "boars" earned EUR 627. You reached your goal, so you can end the strategy.
If one "boar" remains before you reach your goal, you can use the amount is earns to start the strategy again. In this case, you decrease the bet size, but also reduce the risk of losing all your money.
"Boar farming" can help by insuring your risk. Losing one bet does not lead to the whole strategy ending. The more "boars", the higher the chances that the strategy will end in profit.
The biggest disadvantage is that you need to analyse a lot of events. For the strategy to work, you cannot bet on the same events. Otherwise, if it loses, you will lose several ladders at once.
