Pre-match bets are the opposite of bets. In Pre-match, players place bets before events begin, while in Live bets are placed after the game has started.
Live
What is the difference between Pre-match and Live?
Odds change less frequently in Pre-match. They depend on the balance of power before the match, for example, on team results, the condition of athletes, and the weather. However, these factors rarely change, so the odds remain unchanged for several days before the match. In Live, the odds depend on what is happening in the game at that moment and change every minute.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Pre-match?
In Pre-match, the dynamics of odds is lower than in Live. You have more time to place your bets, but once the game starts, you will not be able to influence your profit.
You have time to think over your bet
The odds rarely change before the match, so nothing stops you from assessing the probability of an event. You can take your time to analyze the statistics and place a well-informed bet. In Live, odds change every minute, so if you hesitate, you will miss a profitable option.
It is harder to choose an accurate selection
A player who places a bet before a match will always have less information to work with than for a bet in Live. Before a match, it is impossible to find out what form the club leaders are in, and what the coach's game plan is. The only thing a player can rely on in Pre-match is the statistics of previous matches and their own experience.
It is harder to insure bets
Before the match, you do not know how the game will develop, so you are limited in how you can insure your bets. In Live, it is easier to insure bets. For example, if the bet on the favourite to win loses, you can insure it by betting that the outsider will not lose.
How to bet in Pre-match
Study all the available statistics, including results in recent matches, the history of head‑to‑head matches, and team leader statistics for the current season. Fonbet has a statistics centre with information on over 20 different sports to help you back up your bets with facts.
Do not bet on the most obvious selections in popular matches. A lot of money is bet on these selections, so betting companies artificially lower the odds of popular outcomes to redirect bets to other options. Most often, bets are placed on the victory of the obvious favourite of Russian teams and athletes at international competitions. In these matches, it is better to choose a bet on a total or a win with a handicap.
Insure your bets in live. If you place a bet in Pre-match and think it will not win, then bet on the opposite outcome in Live. This way, at least once of your bets will win so you can reduce the amount you lose or even earn a profit.
Insurance example
- You bet on Juventus to win against Roma.
- In the first 20 minutes, Roma plays aggressively and scores an early goal.
- Now you doubt that your bet will win. In order to lose less money, bet that Roma will not lose.
How to insure a Multiple bet in Pre-match?
You can do this by using the counter strategy. It works in Multiples where events are distributed in terms of time and there is only one unsettled bet left.
Players place Multiple bets with several events. So one of them should always end after the rest are over. In this case, the player knows in advance that they can use this strategy.
If by the beginning of the last match in the Multiple all the other bets have won, then the player places a Single bet on the event opposite to the remaining one. For example, in the Multiple bet you bet on a team to win, so in the Single bet you bet on their opponent not losing. The bet amount is calculated in such a way that no matter the outcome, the winnings will recoup the lost money and make a profit.
The amount is calculated by the following formula:
Bet = (Amount of the bet on the Multiple × Multiple odds) ÷ Single bet odds.
Counter strategy example
- You bet EUR 10 on a Multiple bet with odds of 5.00. One unsettled bet remains.
- You place a Single bet on the event opposite of the one in the Multiple. Odds: 2.00.
Calculate the bet amount: (10 × 5.00) ÷ 2.00 = EUR 25. - No matter the outcome of the final match, you'll earn EUR 50. On both bets you spent EUR 35, so your net winnings are EUR 15.
Insurance limits your earning potential, but guarantees a win. Without it, you would have earned almost three times as much, but if the last bet had lost, you would have lost everything. This safety net allowed you to guarantee a profit of EUR 15.
How to win back lost money in Pre-match?
Use the chasing strategy. This helps you win back money by increasing the bet amount. Increase your bet amount using the following formula:
S = (X + Y) ÷ (k - 1)
- S – bet amount
- X – estimated winnings from the first bet
- Y – amount lost during the strategy
- k – odds of the selected event
The chasing strategy only works if you have a big bank (EUR 1000+). Due to the increasing bet amount for 5-6 bets, you can spend EUR 600-800 on this strategy. To slow down the increase in strategy costs, choose events with odds of 2.00 and higher to bet on. In this case, the size of each new bet will be less than doubled.
