.What does a small market include?
There are three bet types that the small market includes.
- Separate odds. In popular tournaments small markets comprise odds with rare bets, for instance, total number of corners, exact score, number of rebounds, match time, goal time.
- Tournaments. In all sports there are tournaments that are not popular among customers. For instance, customers from Russia rarely bet on qualifying championships in Slovenia, Egypt or Chile. For every betting company small market tournaments depend on the geographical local of the company or of its customers.
- Sports types. Small markets may include unpopular sports, such as darts, rugby, ski jumping. All depends on the size of the audience – the less people follow a certain sport, the smaller the respective bet flow.
What are pros and cons of the small market?
Absence of overload.
Overload is a reduction of excessively popular odds, in order to make them unappealing to customers and to direct the bet flow to other options. There are no overloads on small markets because they are not popular among players.High margin.
Margin is the commission of a betting company initially included in the odds. The higher the margin the lower the market odds. Small market odds are higher than big market odds – that is how betting companies compensate for the low bet flow. The lower the bet's popularity, the higher the margin. For instance, in the EPL the outcome margin on average is 3-5%, and in the Mali championship, it is 7-9%. It means that on small markets the odds can be lower by 4-5%.Small proposition bet.
In tournaments and championships included into the small market, there is usually a small number of options for bets. This is explained by low popularity: there is no reason for the betting company to offer additional bets, if the players rarely place bets even on the outcomes, totals and handicaps.Low betting limits.
The less popular the odds are, the lower the maximum bets amount is.Lack of information.
Usually there is a lack of statistics on low-popularity tournaments, and making a comprehensible prediction becomes an issue – it is often the case that such an event is not even streamed. The player should be very knowledgeable to place confident bets. How to place bets on small markets?
