Asian handicap

Asian handicap is a combined bet on two handicaps. It is also called double.
The bet looks like a handicap with ".25" or ".75" after the comma, for instance, (+1.25) or (-2.75).
Handicap is a bet on a selected team winning with a conditional advantage. The handicap value is added to the match score. The bet wins,if the team wins with the handicap taken into account. We have written in detail about handicap and the ways to calculate it in the
"Handicap" article
.

How to calculate the bet on the Asian handicap?

First break down the handicap into constituent parts. To find out the first part, add 0.25 to the value, to find out the second part, detract 0.25.
Let's break down the Asian handicap (-2.75):
  • -2.75 + 0.25 = -2.5 – the first part;

  • -2.75 - 0.25 = -3 – the second part.
When calculating the bet, we break down the handicap into two parts. The amount is divided in half between them. The bet odds do not change.
We put a bet on the Asian handicap (+1.25) with odds of 2.00. The amount – EUR 100. We break the bet into two parts:
  • +1.25 + 0.25 = +1.5 – the first part;

  • +1.25 - 0.25 = +1 – the second part.
The odds of each part – 2.00, the amount is divided in half between them – with EUR 500 for each.
Let's see the match selections at which we get a win:
  • Win with any score or a draw – both parts win: EUR 100 for one part and EUR 100 for the other part. In total we win EUR 200.

  • The loss with the difference of 1 goal – the win of EUR 100 at (+1.5) and a push of EUR 50 at (+1).
  • A loss with the difference of 2 goals or higher means the loss of both parts.

How does the Asian handicap differ from the regular handicap?

There are more calculation options.
 The bet on a regular handicap has 2-3 selections: win, loss or push at the integer value. The Asian handicap always has five calculation options: one of the parts will always be an integer and the other part – a fraction. Due to this the chance of winning or recouping a share of the loss increases.
Complicated calculation.
When betting on a regular handicap you always know what you have bet on. The bet win conditions are indicated on the bet slip. It is more complicated with the Asian handicap. It is difficult to tell at first glance in which case the bet will win. First you need to break down the bet into integral parts and calculate, the cases in which every separate part wins and how much.
Free bets can't be placed.
This is because the winnings of an Asian bet with a free bet may be less than the value of the free bet, so the player won't receive any winnings.
The win is smaller.
In some situations a regular handicap brings more cash than the Asian handicap.
We choose between the Asian handicap (-1.75) with the odds of 1.78 and the regular handicap (-1.5) with the odds of 1.65. Bet amount – EUR 100. Let's see how these bets will be calculated.
Handicap (-1.5):

  • given a win with a difference of 2 goals and more – you win EUR 165;

  • in other cases you lose.
Handicap (-1.75)
is broken down as (-1.5) and (-2):
  • given a win with a difference of 3 goals and more – the win for both parts is EUR 178;

  • given a win with a difference of 2 goals – the win is EUR 89 at a bet of (-1,5) and a push is EUR 50 for (-2);
  • in other cases both parts lose.
So, if the chosen team wins with a difference of 2 goals, the bet on the Asian handicap brings us profit. However, the win will be EUR 39 less than for the bet on a win with the handicap (-1.5).
We only get the full win amount, if the team wins with a difference of at least 3 goals. In this case it is more profitable to bet on a win with a handicap (-2.5) with odds of 2.65 – in this case we win EUR 87 more.

How is the Asian handicap calculated for the Multiple bets?

The same as for a single bet. Your bet slip is split in two. Every part will contain the handicap and all the other events. The odds will remain the same and the bet amount is evenly divided between two bet slips. Both bet slips are calculated separately and the win is accumulated.
We have added the Asian handicap (-1.75) to the Multiple bet, the handicap is broken down into (-1.5) and (-2). In total, there are five events in the Multiple bet, the odds are – 6.00, the bet amount – EUR 100. Let's see how the bet will be settled.
The first bet slip has the bet for (-1.5). The amount – EUR 50, the odds – 6.00.
The second bet slip has a bet for (-2). The amount – EUR 50, the odds – 6.00.
  • If the team wins with a difference of 3 goals or more, then both bet slips will bring a win of EUR 300 with a total of EUR 600.

  • If the team wins with a difference of 2 goals, then the bet on (-2) is lost, and the bet on (-1,5) brings a profit to the amount of EUR 300.
  • Both bet slips lose at any other match outcome.
If you add more than one Asian handicap into the Multiple bet, the bet slip will be broken down into as many parts as are required to cover all the possible combinations. At that, each one will have only one part of every handicap. For instance, you will have 4 bet slips for 2 Asian handicaps and 8 bet slips for 3 Asian handicaps.

How are the Asian handicaps calculated (+0.25) and (-0.25)?

Both bets are a bet equivalent for the win of the chosen team, with the draw insurance. If the match ends in a draw (+0.25) brings a win, (-0.25) – a small loss.
Handicap (+0.25) is broken down into (0) and (+0.5).
  • Win by the chosen team with any score – both parts bring a win.

  • Draw – (0) is calculated as a push, (+0.5) brings a win.
  • Loss – both parts are calculated as lost.
Handicap (-0.25) is broken down into (0) and (-0.5).
  • Win by the selected team with any score – both parts win.

  • Draw – (0) is calculated as a push, (-0.5) as a loss.
  • Loss – both parts are calculated as a loss.
A bet on (+0.25) is similar to a bet on a selected team not losing. (-0.25) – it is similar to a bet on a win.

How are Asian handicaps calculated (+0.75) and (-0.75)?

Handicap (+0.75) is broken down into (+0.5) and (+1).
  • Win or draw – both part win.

  • Loss with a difference of 1 goal – loss on (+0,5) and push on (+1).
  • Loss with a difference of 2 goals and more – both parts lose.
Handicap (-0.75) is broken down into (-0.5) and (-1).
  • Win with a difference of 2 goals and more – both parts win.

  • Win with a difference of 1 goal – win on (-0.5) and push on (-1).
  • Draw or loss – both parts lose.
