The four teams that will compete in January’s Spanish Super Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, will get an early preview today and tomorrow, as they face each other in Matchday 19 of LaLiga.
Barcelona host Atletico Madrid tonight at Camp Nou (22:00), while Real Madrid are tested on Wednesday (3/12, 20:00) at San Mamés against Athletic Bilbao, in two matches that could once again reshape the picture at the top of the standings.
Barça, who took advantage of Real’s slip-ups and now sit in first place, want to extend their four-match winning streak in the league. Hansi Flick once again has Pedri and De Jong available, while Fermín, Gavi, and Araújo will be absent. Atletico remain unbeaten since the opening matchday and since their previous visit to Barcelona, where they lost 2–1 to Espanyol; with a win, they would catch Barça at the top.
Real Madrid, after three straight away draws that dropped them from first place, are looking to respond. Xabi Alonso, currently under heavy pressure, is only missing Carvajal. Ernesto Valverde’s Basques want to build on their 2–0 win over Levante and climb higher from the seventh place they currently occupy.
