It was a positive matchday for
the Cypriot teams in the 4th round of the league phase of the Conference League. Omonia defeated Dynamo Kyiv 2–0 at GSP Stadium, celebrated their first win in the competition, and made an eight-place jump in the standings. Henning Berg’s team climbed to 21st place with five points and now has its fate in its own hands to secure a place in the playoffs for the Conference League round of 16.Two matches remain in which Omonia will pursue one victory to lock in the continuation of their European journey. On 11 December they will travel to Vienna for the match against bottom-placed Rapid, and they will conclude their league-phase fixtures against Raków at GSP on 18 December.
AEK withstood Rijeka’s pressure, drew 0–0, and returns from Croatia with a valuable point in the bag. The yellow-greens continue their unbeaten run and are the only team across all three UEFA competitions that has not conceded a goal. With eight points, AEK sits in 7th place in the standings and has solid hopes of securing a spot in the top eight, which guarantees a direct European ticket.
Two more matches remain for AEK, which will travel to Sweden for the game against Häcken on 11 December and will finish their league-phase journey against Shkëndija on 18 December. With a goal difference of +5 (5–0), AEK has every reason to contend strongly for a place in the top eight.
