The 2025 Conference League final is considered to be of historic significance.
On May 28, 2025, the Stadion Wrocław in Wrocław, Poland, will host one of the most thrilling finals in the history of the UEFA Conference League: the clash between Real Betis and Chelsea. This final marks the culmination of an impressive journey for both teams, who have left their mark on the European stage.

Stadion Wrocław

Stadion Wrocław, also known as Tarczyński Arena for sponsorship reasons, is the home of the Polish team Śląsk Wrocław. It opened in 2011 and has a capacity of 42,771 spectators, making it the third largest stadium in Poland. The venue hosted matches during UEFA Euro 2012 and continues to be used for international fixtures and national competitions.

Real Betis: The history and the road to the final

Real Betis, also known as "Los Verdiblancos," was founded in 1907 and has a rich history in Spanish football. Based at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, the team won the Copa del Rey in 1977 and has participated in European competitions such as the Cup Winners' Cup.
This season, Real Betis began their UEFA Conference League campaign in the qualifying rounds, where they eliminated Servette with an aggregate score of 5–0. In the group stage, the team faced opponents such as Slavia Prague, Hajduk Split, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Hapoel Holon, and Shakhtar Donetsk. After a difficult start, Betis managed to advance to the next phase, where they knocked out teams like Roma and Fiorentina, reaching the final with impressive performances and tactical discipline.

Betis in a European final for the first time

Betis, having spent years in the heavy European “shadow” of Sevilla — winners of 7 Europa League titles and one UEFA Super Cup — have been celebrating since Thursday night (May 8) their first-ever qualification for a European final in the club’s history.
With Antony as the undisputed leader and standout performer in the second leg against Fiorentina in the Conference League semi-finals, the Andalusians overcame Fiorentina in extra time (2–1 in regular time), left the “Artemio Franchi” with a 2–2 draw, and with a 4–3 aggregate score, secured their spot in the grand final on May 28, which will be held at the “Wrocław Stadium” in Wrocław.
The Spaniards, holding a 2–1 lead from the first leg in Seville, opened the scoring with a stunning direct free-kick by Antony in the 30th minute. The “Viola” responded quickly and before halftime turned the game around with two powerful headers by Gosens in the 34th and 42nd minutes.
The match went to extra time, where Betis struck in the 97th minute through Ez Abde, who equalized to make it 2–2 following an assist from Antony. The scorer of Betis’ second goal also hit the post in the 117th minute, missing the chance to seal the win, but even so, the team from Seville finished the job — and now they’re heading to Wrocław.

Chelsea: The history and the road to the final

Chelsea, one of the most successful clubs in the history of English football, was founded in 1905 and has won titles such as the English Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. The team plays at Stamford Bridge and has a rich tradition in European football.
Chelsea’s campaign in the 2024–2025 UEFA Conference League has been impressive. In the group stage, the team went undefeated, finishing with 18 points, scoring 26 goals and conceding only 5. They then eliminated teams like Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw, and Dynamo Kyiv, reaching the final with outstanding performances and solid strategy.
It should be noted that Chelsea easily defeated Djurgården 1–0 at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Conference League semi-finals, and with an aggregate score of 5–1, secured their place in this season’s grand final.
They now have one more major goal: to become the first team in the history of European competitions to have won all of UEFA’s major trophies. So far, they have 2 Champions League titles (2012, 2021), 2 Europa League titles (2013, 2019), and 2 Cup Winners’ Cups (1971, 1998).
After the emphatic 4–1 win in the first leg at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena, things were very clear for Enzo Maresca’s “Blues,” who did not hesitate to start 16-year-old English winger Reggie Walsh (born 20.10.2008) and 18-year-old Swedish midfielder Genesis Adjei (born 11.5.2007).
Chelsea played just as much as needed to win again, and secured the 1–0 victory thanks to a goal by Dewsbury-Hall in the 38th minute.

The significance of the final

The 2024–2025 UEFA Conference League final is not just a clash for the trophy, but also an opportunity for both teams to make history. For Real Betis, winning the title would mark their rise to the top of European football. For Chelsea, victory would complete their collection of all major UEFA trophies — something no other English club has ever achieved.
The 2024–2025 UEFA Conference League final promises to be a thrilling encounter between two clubs with rich histories and great ambitions for the future.
