Over the weekend, we had action in Group C of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025, hosted at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol, where two matchdays took place and the high expectations for great spectacle were confirmed, with packed stands and a unique atmosphere.
On Saturday, the action tipped off with Italy prevailing over Georgia after a thrilling game, while Spain secured its first victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The standout game, of course, was the first official and historic Cyprus–Greece clash, which drew intense interest from the public, with thousands of fans singing the national anthem together and creating a warm, festive atmosphere in the stands, highlighting the distinctive character the tournament has in our country.
On Sunday, three more impressive games followed. First, the Greece–Georgia derby brought more than 7,000 spectators who filled the arena and created one of the most spectacular atmospheres recorded so far in the tournament. Next, the Cyprus–Spain game attracted more than 5,000 fans, proving that the Cypriot public passionately embraces the presence of our national team against Europe’s basketball powerhouses. Finally, Italy defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina, while also securing Greece’s automatic qualification to the Round of 16.
The overall picture of the weekend highlights FIBA EuroBasket 2025 as a true celebration of the sport, combining top-level competition with massive support from fans of all ages.
